In the last 4 years, we have published over 85 customer stories at GoCardless. Among these, our collaboration with JustGiving stands out as an exceptional customer story, embodying original storytelling, highlighting compelling benefits and demonstrating a significant impact on our business.

 

Originally published in 2022, this isn’t a static story; it’s a living narrative that has continued to evolve alongside JustGiving’s journey with GoCardless. It was updated in 2024 to reflect their ongoing product adoption, and another iteration is in the pipeline, illustrating a deeply integrated and sustained partnership.

 

JustGiving highlights the importance of payments with GoCardless – “For charities, setting up a reliable succession of monthly payments makes bank payments the gift that keeps on giving – they expect us to provide this capability,”. 

 

The story isn’t in just one format – it has taken on many forms since its initial launch. The key stakeholder at JustGiving has become a powerful advocate, driving their narrative across multiple channels. Beyond the written and spotlight film assets, the story was brought to life on stage at industry events in 2024, GoCardless customer events in 2022, 23 & 24 and on the GoCardless podcast just a couple of months ago in 2025.  

 

The relationship built from creating this story was supercharged when GoCardless became a proud sponsor of the JustGiving Awards in both 2023 and 2024. This strategic alignment not only deepened our partnership but also created invaluable opportunities to generate even more compelling customer story content, showcasing the powerful synergy between us.

 

The impact of the JustGiving story extends far beyond brand visibility. Our Customer Advocacy team in UK&I operates with a KPI focused on Influenced Bookings. Last year, our target was to influence 30% of total bookings won; we exceeded this, achieving 35% overall. We can see that the JustGiving customer story is most popular with our sales team, and therefore was a contributing factor to us meeting our team target. A testament to its compelling nature, powerful evidence, and direct influence on our sales pipeline and overall ROI. 

 

In summary, the JustGiving customer story with GoCardless is a prime candidate for this award due to the extensive and ongoing content we have collaboratively created. We have cultivated a strong, evolving partnership through this activity, which has significantly impacted GoCardless’s ROI and overall business contributions.
